Standing In Front of God With Integrity (I):

Blackmail and Extortion

Text & Thought

  • Saturday 2:00PM–3:15PM Balboa Bay 1
Imagine blackmailing God or questioning His/Her moral standards while standing in front of the Divine. Is there anything you desire so much that would push you in this direction? How did Hannah, the mother of the prophet Samuel, claim what was hers? How would you? An open heart and mind seasoned with honesty are required for this session.

The Difficulty of Davening:

Strategies for Making it Easier to Pray (or at Least to Make it Better)

Ritual and Prayer

  • Saturday 8:00PM–9:15PM Catalina 2
For this panel discussion, we've invited four quite different daveners (pray-ers) to talk about the history and evolution of their relationship to prayer. Join us for a frank discussion about attitudes toward prayer and why it means something different to each person.

Standing In Front of God With Integrity (II):

Righteous Indignation and Abandonment

Text & Thought

  • Sunday 1:00PM–2:15PM Laguna Beach 3
In the face of terror and betrayal, how do you respond? Fight or flee? How can you maintain a relationship with God when God is the source of this pain? The Piasetzna rebbe ("the Warsaw ghetto rebbe") will challenge us with these questions as we study different interpretations of the Binding of Isaac in the Book of Genesis.
